A common preparation method is to react 3-amino-2-acrylic acid methyl ester with trimethoxysilane to form 3-(tri-methoxysilyl)propylamine, and then react with acetic acid and methanesulfonic acid to generate trimethyl[2-[(2-methyll-1-oxoallyl) amino]propyl]ammonium methyl sulphate.
